eng-jp-dict.json — licence and attribution

This file accompanies eng-jp-dict.json, which is served from the same directory
and is downloaded in full by the Nikki AI web and mobile clients.

SOURCE

eng-jp-dict.json is derived from JMdict/EDICT, the Japanese-English dictionary
file produced by the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group
(EDRDG), Monash University.

MODIFICATIONS

This is a MODIFIED version of the source data, not a verbatim copy. The original
JMdict_e.xml has been parsed, filtered and restructured into a compact JSON form
optimised for client-side English-to-Japanese search. See
scripts/prepareEngJpDict.ts in the Nikki AI repository for the exact
transformation.

This licence covers THIS FILE and the dictionary data within it. It does not
cover the Nikki AI application, its source code, its lesson content, or any
other data it stores or serves. ShareAlike attaches to the adapted database, not
to software that reads it.
